WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass.—March 19, 2010—Apparent Networks today issued a new Performance Advisory detailing an outage in Terremark’s vCloud Express services. Apparent Network’s Cloud Performance Center confirmed that a connectivity loss caused the outage, which took place in Terremark’s Miami data center. Businesses utilizing Terremark’s vCloud Express services from this datacenter were affected.
The outage began on March 17, 2010 at approximately 11:54 a.m. and ended 19:05 p.m. EDT. During that time, access to systems in Terremark’s Miami data center was severely degraded and often unavailable. There were intermittent periods of connectivity with high data packet loss between those times, and the number of connectivity loss events and duration varied slightly by location.
The Apparent Networks Performance Advisory is based on intelligence provided by the company’s Cloud Performance Center, a free service that utilizes Apparent Network’s PathView Cloud service to test the performance of cloud service providers such as Amazon, Google and GoGrid.
The Cloud Performance Center provides real-time and historical data online to help inform IT teams of network performance issues that could impact effective delivery of cloud services. It provides network path performance metrics—including bandwidth, jitter and latency—for the cloud providers based on path destinations that include major cities throughout North America.
