Apparent Networks develops and markets software that provides a radically different and superior basis for assessing, measuring and diagnosing converged networks to facilitate the optimal performance of video, VoIP and data applications. Our customers include Cisco, IBM, Nortel, HP and Toshiba.

Situated in the heart of Vancouver's popular Gastown area, we have an open office layout in a character building that's close to all of the major transit services.

Responsibilities:

• Perform complex product architecture, design, systems analysis and programming activities
• Define detailed requirements and feature design
• Maintain ownership for multiple product components
• Lead small projects, including planning, technical leadership and leading others
• Provide mentoring to other software developers

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience with OO analysis, design and implementation
• B.Sc. in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent education
• Excellent Java programming skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Exposure to J2EE technologies and JBoss
• Database design and programming using JDBC/SQL/Hibernate
• Practical experience with XML
• UI and/or web interface development using Java Swing/JSP/JavaScript/Ajax
• Experience with Web Services
• Understanding of design patterns
• Experience and/or strong interest in IP networks, VoIP, video/IP, network management
• Experience with distributed applications
