Jack Sweeney
President and Chief Executive Officer
Jack Sweeney is President and CEO of Apparent Networks. He is responsible for setting the Company’s strategic direction and leading its growth as a provider of solutions for effective monitoring and management of converged networks and the Web-enabled applications that depend on them.
Jack has a proven track record of entrepreneurial success in managing growth companies and capital investments in information technology markets. Most recently he was president and CEO of Network Intelligence Corp., which was acquired by EMC for $175 million in 2006. Post-acquisition, he served as Vice President of mergers and acquisitions for EMC. Earlier in his career, Jack was president and CEO of Stargus (acquired by C-Cor, Inc.), CEO of EPiCON (acquired by Nortel for $450 million), and CEO of Bell Atlantic Network Integration, which grew to $330 million in revenues under his leadership. He also spent four years as a General Partner with Prism Venture Partners, a $1.1 billion early stage venture capital firm.
Kelly Daniels
CTO and Co-founder
Kelly Daniels is the Chief Technology Officer and a co-founder of Apparent Networks. He is responsible for guiding the Company’s technology vision and he oversees its practical application in all product development efforts. To this role, Kelly brings more than 15 years of experience in the creation, management and build-out of technology development teams at innovative, high-growth companies.
Prior to co-founding Apparent Networks, Kelly was co-founder and Vice President of Technology at Mainframe Entertainment, a provider of computer-generated imagery for feature films, television programs, commercials and simulators. His work there earned Kelly an Outstanding Technical Achievement award from the Academy of Canadian Television. Under his leadership, Mainframe grew into an organization with over 300 staff members. The company went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange, was subsequently acquired and is now part of Rainmaker Animation. Earlier in his career, Kelly held senior technical and management positions at Broadcast Television Systems (now Philips), and Visuals Imaging in Milan, Italy.
Jeff Melvin
EVP, Worldwide Sales and Field Operations
Jeff Melvin is Executive Vice President of worldwide sales and field operations for Apparent Networks. He is responsible for developing and managing the execution of effective sales strategies in the enterprise and managed service provider markets. He also oversees channel sales and technology partner program efforts.
Prior to joining Apparent Networks, Jeff was Vice President of worldwide sales and operations for Network Intelligence Corp., where he successfully led all sales initiatives and field operations, including channel sales development and management. Network Intelligence was acquired by EMC for $175 million in 2006. Jeff’s earlier experience includes CEO roles at Kaon Interactive and Rovia.com, and executive management roles at Engage and Inso Corporation. Under Jeff’s sales leadership, Inso Corp. grew from a $5 million division of Houghton Mifflin Company into an organization of more than 400 employees with annual revenues of over $80 million. Jeff played an instrumental role in Inso’s highly successful initial public offering in 1995.
Steve Mank
Chief Marketing Officer
Steve Mank serves as Chief Marketing Officer for Apparent Networks. Steve sets the Company’s strategic marketing direction, and has responsibility for all aspects of marketing activities worldwide including product management, corporate marketing, product marketing, partner and channel marketing and marketing operations functions.
Steve has more than 25 years of experience in executive management and strategic business development in the areas of networking and application systems and their associated management environments. He has a proven track record of leading emerging growth companies to market-dominant positions. Prior to joining Apparent Networks, Steve was Chief Operating Officer of Qovia, a provider of monitoring and management solutions for converged networks that was sold to Cisco. Prior to Qovia, Steve was Chief Marketing Officer for Panacya, a start-up in the application performance management space, and was Senior Vice President of Product Operations at Trinagy. He drove Trinagy’s revenue growth from $5 million to $20 million in 18 months, which led to the company’s acquisition by Hewlett-Packard. Steve’s earlier career experiences include senior technology and management positions at Motorola, Newbridge Networks, Xyplex Networks and Hayes Corporation.
John DiBartolomeo
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer for Apparent Networks, John DiBartolomeo works with the senior management team to establish and guide the company’s business strategies. He also has management responsibility for all of the company’s financial activities, including corporate controller functions, financial planning and analysis, and general and administrative services.
John has over twenty five years of financial and operations experience with both privately held and publicly traded high technology companies. Prior to joining Apparent Networks, John served as chief financial officer of Nellymoser, Inc., a privately held provider of mobile 2.0 services. Prior to Nellymoser, John was the chief financial officer of Softricity Corp., a leader of application virtualization and dynamic streaming technologies. John navigated Softricity from early stages through its rapid growth and successful acquisition by Microsoft Corporation. His track record of successes continues back to senior financial executive positions at Basis Technology Corp., Interlynx Technology Corp. and Intermec Technologies Corp., where DiBartolomeo earned a reputation for building profitable, growth-oriented operations and managing successful mergers and acquisitions.
Loki Jorgenson
Chief Scientist
Loki Jorgenson is the Chief Scientist at Apparent Networks. In addition to providing thought leadership on a range of networking and connectivity topics, Loki is responsible for planning and managing all of the Company’s product research efforts. In this role, he guides and manages the Apparent Networks research team while also looking ‘over the horizon’ at various advanced and next-generation technologies.
Loki earned a Ph.D. from McGill University where he specialized in statistical mechanics and computational physics. Since the early 1990’s, Loki has been involved in a diverse range of network-based research, including high performance computing and grid networks, collaborative and distance learning, distributed interactivity, scientific visualization and algorithms development. He is often a featured speaker at networking industry conferences and academic symposiums, and regularly publishes articles in industry trade publications and academic journals. Having joined the Company in its early days, Loki directed the focus on expert systems, application modeling, network diagnostics, and packet behavior analysis. The results of his work have informed critical product development decisions at Apparent Networks in VoIP, video, application performance, and automated network management.
Fred Klassen
Vice President, Networking Technologies and Co-founder
As the Vice President of Network Technologies and a co-founder of Apparent Networks, Fred Klassen draws more than 20 years of experience in product innovation, development and networking. It was Fred’s ideas, imagination and technology vision that laid the foundation for the Company’s AppCritical solution. In his role as VP of Networking Technologies, he is responsible for overseeing a diverse range of product development, deployment and customer support programs and initiatives.
Before co-founding Apparent Networks, Fred spent 22 years with IBM Canada in a series of technical, sales and operations positions with increasing responsibilities. Most recently, he was a network engineer and software developer in IBM Canada’s Networking and Cabling Division, where he interfaced between customers, industry experts, suppliers and network equipment manufacturers to ensure optimal network designs. Prior to that, Fred was a sales representative for that same division, where he significantly exceeded his quota for three years running. Earlier in Fred’s career with IBM, he held planning specialist and system engineer roles. As Fred’s reputation grew within IBM, he became the ‘go-to’ expert on how to solve the most difficult networking problems. Fred would often be called in after many other attempts to solve major problems had failed. He developed and refined unique troubleshooting methodologies and taught his techniques to hundreds of systems engineers worldwide. Fred has received numerous awards for his contributions and innovations, and is the holder of 5 patents.
Keith Bartlett
Vice President of Business Development
Keith Bartlett, the Vice President of Business Development for Apparent Networks, has responsibility for setting the strategic direction for the Company’s partnership and corporate development efforts. In this role, Keith oversees revenue-generating initiatives that leverage the combined strengths of Apparent’s AppCritical solution with the offerings of our key partners, including major technology vendors and managed service providers. He also manages programs that extend Apparent’s market reach through integration with our partners’ direct sales and indirect channel activities.Keith has a proven track record of more than 20 years of success in sales and business development for technology companies ranging from small start-ups to global leaders. Before he joined Apparent Networks, Keith was Vice President of Business Development for Network Intelligence Corp., where he played a key role in that company’s acquisition by EMC for $175 million. Prior to that, he headed up enterprise sales for GeoTrust, where he drove an increase in enterprise sales of more than 300% over three years before the company was acquired by VeriSign for $125 million. Before GeoTrust, he was VP of Sales for Nortel, which he joined through Nortel’s acquisition of EPiCON. Previously Keith was director of global alliances for EMC. Earlier in his career, he held similar positions with Sequent Computer Systems, Unisys and Sperry Corporation.
