Overview

The PathView Network Monitoring tool gives you direct management capabilities across your entire extended network. It takes a continuous view path performance, covering not only your network, but also those of your carriers, service providers, partners and customers.

Most likely your traditional system wasn't designed for the ways your network is used today. It only lets you see the devices you own, not your entire, end-to-end network paths. To manage properly, you need to be able to see through the cloud and monitor the health of individual paths.

Need some help with WAN performance monitoring?

Here are some tips for improving WAN Performance

Know and monitor your network: Determine acceptable benchmarks for network performance characteristics such as jitter, packet loss, packet reordering, utilization and bandwidth

Be proactive: Keep your network always up and running by monitoring your network continuously to detect and troubleshoot problems before they impact users.

Consider doing two tests between the application and the target:
- A target-only test quickly measures the end-to-end activity

- A full-path test takes looks at every layer 3 device between the sequencer host and the target system

Have a troubleshooting plan: Design and implement alerts, traps and escalation to automatically notify you when your SLAs or OLAs are violated.
